The 1999 is an easy, effervescent sparkling cocktail for last-minute holiday guests. It is a variation on the classic French 75 adding floral and citrus notes with Lillet and jewel-like pomegranate seeds.

oz lemon juice

tsp Simple Syrup (see recipe)
sparkling wine
lemon peel

cup sugar

cup water

Step 1
Combine Lillet, lemon juice and simple syrup in a champagne flute or coupe.
Step 2
Top with sparkling wine. Stir to combine.
Step 3
Rub a lemon peel around the rim of the glass.
Step 4
Garnish with pomegranate seeds.
Step 5
Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over high heat.
Step 6
Bring to a boil and stir until sugar has dissolved completely.
Step 7
Allow to cool.
