Combine all ingredients (except the pork) in a medium bowl; reserve a half cup (125 mL) of marinade. Place ribs in a glass or ceramic baking dish and pour remaining marinade over. Turn a couple of times to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours to overnight.
Pre-heat grill to medium low. Remove ribs from marinade, discarding marinade and wipe dry with a paper towel. Grill for a total of an hour and fifteen minutes. Baste frequently with reserved marinade for the final 20 minutes, turning every 5 minutes or so until ribs are tender and the internal temperature has reached 160°F (70°C). Anything that has sugar in the basting sauce, like this one, is very easy to burn. Grill over a low heat, turn frequently, and pay careful attention. Or roast at 325°F (160°C), basting throughout.
Allow ribs to rest for 15 minutes, covered, then slice between bones and serve.
In a hurry? For all rib recipes, instead of making your own sauce use your favourite barbecue sauce; mix in a few tablespoons of cider vinegar.
Elegant variation: Cut ribs lengthwise to make long steaks; grill slowly and baste with sauce for the final few minutes.
