cups flour

Tbsp cornmeal

tsp salt

Tbsp brown sugar
½
tsp vanilla extract
¾
tsp baking powder
⅔
cups water

Step 1
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and cornmeal in a bowl.
Step 2
Add the sugar and stir.
Step 3
Add the vanilla to the water and then add the mixture to the dry ingredients, binding to form soft dough.
Step 4
Knead lightly.
Step 5
Leave covered for half an hour.
Step 6
Divide the dough into eight portions.
Step 7
Flour hands.
Step 8
Knead lightly, then roll and pull each portion to form a festival six inches in length and about one and a half inches thick.
Step 9
Dip the festival in a mixture of cornmeal and flour and then deep fry it in hot oil until golden brown.
