If there were ever a magic potion for sleep, these infused milks would absolutely be it. I designed each of these recipes to channel the calming energy of the moon, soothe your senses, and quiet your nervous system and to introduce you to the incredible world of adaptogens. Adaptogenic herbs are herbs, roots, and plant extracts that, very simply put, help your body adapt to the stresses of life. They bring balance and homeostasis to all your systems, returning them to their ideal chilled-out state. The adaptogens used in the recipes — ashwagandha, crushed rose petals, dried chamomile flowers and butterfly pea flower powder (also called blue matcha) — can all be found in natural foods stores or online. Sip, exhale and let the moon’s nurturing energy wash over you.

In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer over medium-low heat. Add the turmeric, saffron, cinnamon, ashwagandha, nutmeg, cardamom and pepper, whisking vigorously to break up any clumps.
Add the coconut oil, reduce the heat to low, and cook until the coconut oil is melted and warmed through and the spices’ aromas fill your kitchen, 1-2 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let the milk cool slightly. Sweeten to taste with jaggery or coconut sugar and serve.
