This recipe requires overnight freeze time.
Arrange ½ the orange slices, 1 cup of blackberries, pomegranate pieces, and rosemary sprigs in a round 6-inch container. Fill the container with warm water until all of the fruit is either fully immersed or mostly immersed. Freeze overnight.
Place 1 cup blackberries, star anise pods, sugar, and water in a small saucepan. Using a muddler or potato masher, mash the berries into the sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce it to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Line a fine mesh strainer with cheesecloth and strain the berry mixture into a glass. Set it aside to cool slightly.
Pour 3 ounces of the blackberry syrup into a large pitcher. Add the black vodka, raspberry liqueur, lemon juice, pomegranate juice, and orange bitters. Fill the pitcher ¾ of the way up with ice and stir until chilled.
Place the frozen fruit disc in a large punch bowl or a pitcher.
Strain the cocktail mixture into the punch bowl using a bar spoon to keep the ice from falling into the bowl. Add the club soda, remaining orange wheels, and remaining blackberries. Serve immediately.
