Toffee Apple Crumble

large cox apples, peeled and cut into chunks

pear, peeled and quartered

g unsalted butter

g dark brown sugar
zest and juice of 1 orange
Custard, cream or vanilla ice-cream to serve
Topping

g spelt flour

g organic oats

g butter – cold and cut into chunks

g demerera sugar

Step 1
Heat the apples, pears, butter, sugar and orange zest and juice until tender but not too soft.
Step 2
Mix together the flour, oats, butter and sugar to make the crumble topping.
Step 3
Put the apples into a dish that can go into the oven, top with the crumble mixture and bake for around 25 – 30 minutes at 180C/160 Fan.
Step 4
Serve with custard, cream or vanilla ice-cream.
